I enjoy going to the beach, the mountains, parks, and even the Venezuelan plains with my husband and my 3- and 5-year-old children. I’m fascinated by a black coffee in the morning, having a checklist, and achieving daily goals. Order is key in my life, and I love learning from my patients every day. Dr. Andrés Marcano
I am a Pediatrician working and studying autism spectrum disorders since October 2003. I was initially trained by Dr. Lilia Negrón, a pioneer and founder of the study, diagnosis, and treatment of autism spectrum disorders in Venezuela and founder of Sovenia. Since 2004, I have had the opportunity to further my training in the United States through various specialized courses at the Autism Research Institute. I am also a professor in the Diploma Program on Autism Spectrum Disorders at the Faculty of Medicine at the Central University of Venezuela.
Currently, I work at NutriWhite alongside an excellent team of nutritionists who help me support my clients from a nutritional and digestive perspective, aiming to establish a healthy life from childhood, prevent many conditions, and also assist in the treatment of children and adults within the autism spectrum disorders. This field requires daily research and study on my part to stay up-to-date with new studies, scientific advancements, treatment modalities, and their practical application to each individual.
I start my day with a coffee, enjoying the view of Ávila and thanking God, asking for His help to be useful to others. I really enjoy spending time with my family, which is the most important thing to me. I love reading, both medical literature and other topics such as history and biographies. Whenever I can, I escape to the beach.
For me, it is very important to get to know each other in order to establish a relationship of trust. A fundamental part of the effectiveness of any treatment is to thoroughly understand the patient's history and background to identify possible causes contributing to the current symptoms. Then, it is important to rely on laboratories that allow us to complete the diagnosis with more precision, enabling us to act more effectively. Finally, it’s crucial to understand that improvement is a process, and that communication and follow-up are essential to make the necessary adjustments for each individual case.

Frequently asked questions
about hypothyroidism
What is hypothyroidism?
Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormones, leading to a slowing of metabolism.
The most common form of hypothyroidism is called Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, and it is autoimmune in nature, which is why an approach based on immunonutrition is necessary.
Medical treatment is usually prescribed by an endocrinologist or immunologist, and it typically involves the administration of levothyroxine, a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine, which helps normalize hormone levels.
What are the symptoms and causes of hypothyroidism?
The most common symptoms of hypothyroidism include:
Constant fatigue.
Dry skin.
Weight gain.
Slowed metabolism.
Cold intolerance.
Chronic constipation.
In mild cases, such as subclinical hypothyroidism, the symptoms may be more subtle.
The causes include:
Autoimmune diseases.
Iodine deficiency.
Certain endocrine treatments.
It is essential to consult with a specialist in endocrinology or immunology for an accurate diagnosis.
What foods are good for hypothyroidism?
Foods rich in selenium and iodine are especially recommended, such as:
Nuts, including Brazil nuts and hazelnuts, for their high selenium content.
Fish, seafood, and seaweed.
Weight gain. Iodized salt or sea salt are essential to prevent iodine deficiency.
Antioxidant-rich foods such as berries, green tea, and cocoa can support the immune system.
Sources of dietary fiber: such as flaxseeds, organic fruits and vegetables, etc.
Reducing chronic inflammation and optimizing thyroid function is key.
What foods should be avoided in hypothyroidism?
Foods that cause chronic inflammation, such as:
Cereals such as wheat, barley, rye, oats, and even corn and rice. It doesn't matter if they are whole grains, they still cause inflammation.
Cow's dairy: Cow proteins often cause sensitivity in many people with hypothyroidism.
Also, foods that can interfere with thyroid function, especially goitrogens:
Cruciferous vegetables like cabbage and Brussels sprouts contain compounds that can affect iodine absorption.
Peanuts, which are natural goitrogens, can aggravate goiter.
Ultraprocessed foods that do not provide essential nutrients.
Excessive consumption of these foods should be avoided, and vegetables should be consumed cooked.

I’m truly very satisfied and grateful to both Dr. Marcano and Lic. Natalia. They are extremely professional and attentive in answering every question to help my son Luciano keep progressing. Thank you. :)
Since my son Marlon came to Nutriwhite, I can say that the person he is today is completely different. He arrived with no vocabulary, extreme stereotypies, bleeding eczema, extreme food selectivity, and significant abdominal bloating. I’m getting my son back. Nothing has been easy, but hearing my son call me “mom” makes it all worth it. Thank you, Nutriwhite team.
«Después de tener 3 meses estancada con mi peso, haciendo muchas cosas sin ver cambios, logré bajar casi 4 kilos en un mes con NutriWhite. Y no solamente son los 4 kilos que bajé porque esa ya no es mi prioridad, es lo increíblemente bien que me he sentido. Yo era una persona con muchísimos cambios de humor, había días que no me quería parar de la cama y últimamente me siento una persona alegre, feliz, con energía, demasiado motivada a hacer todo»
“I’ve been applying it for a month and a half and I’m quite happy. I feel energized. I had constipation issues and I believe I’m overcoming them naturally through nutrition. I’m very happy because I used to rely heavily on pills or medications to help me go to the bathroom, and I’m no longer taking them. Overall, I also feel lighter and no longer feel bloated after eating. In general, I’m very satisfied. I started off very motivated and now I not only remain highly motivated but also more confident in maintaining it.”
“I visited many doctors. I had a lot of gas, cramps, diarrhea... and none of the doctors gave me a real solution. I heard about the people at NutriWhite and got really excited because what they were saying truly reflected what I was feeling. They ordered a series of tests and gave me a diet with zero grains and zero dairy. I began to feel better, started to lose my fear of food, and felt supported because they follow up on how you’re feeling and how you’re doing… and something I never thought was related—the joint pain—it’s unbelievable. Now I can open and close my fingers without pain or discomfort. Plus, I’ve gained weight—from 52 kilos, I’ve put on weight. I feel so much better and very grateful to the people at NutriWhite. Honestly, I think they’ve done an incredible job, and I’ve also been a very committed patient.”
“I can’t even believe how good I feel. I no longer have any gas or stomach pain when I eat. I used to have trouble sleeping, waking up many times for no reason, and now I only wake up once. My hair was extremely dry and would fall out just from brushing it, and now it no longer falls out. I also used to feel cold even in the heat. I no longer have cold feet or hands. On top of that, I’ve lost a lot of weight... There have been so many changes.”
“I’ve noticed so many changes since completely eliminating gluten, dairy, and refined sugar. The first and most noticeable change was the reduction in abdominal bloating. Second, I used to sneeze every single day of my life, and I simply stopped sneezing and no longer have a stuffy nose. Third, although I’ve lost weight, what I’ve enjoyed most about the 3R Protocol is that for the first time, I stopped counting calories and just focused on the nutrients entering my body. On top of that, I’ve felt extremely energetic. I’m sleeping much better, and it was all simply due to changes in my diet.”
“I love gluten, but unfortunately it harms me a lot. So, I decided to take on a challenge. I go between 20 to 40 days—depending on how much willpower I have—without eating gluten, and the results are incredible. When I eat gluten, within a minute, I have an allergic reaction; my mouth and eyes start itching... So, I like gluten, but I know it’s bad for me. My plan is to become a gluten-free person and follow a completely healthy diet.”
“In less than 3–4 weeks, just by changing my diet, my thyroid levels improved significantly. My thyroid was at level 9 and dropped to 3.3. I’m super happy and I now realize how food and a healthy lifestyle can truly support your he“It’s been amazing how much my health has improved. I had been dealing with various issues for a long time—headaches, dizziness, bloating—things I lived with daily. I had seen many doctors, and after not finding a solution through conventional medicine, a friend told me about NutriWhite. It has changed my life.”alth.”

“For me, it has been a positive, healing experience—not only for my body but also internally—because all these gastrointestinal issues end up affecting your emotional well-being, as it’s very frustrating. Having proper guidance on how I should nourish myself is something truly beautiful. Re-educating myself in that aspect has been very positive, not just for me but also for my family.”
“Anthony’s progress has been very good. We’re very happy because he used to speak very little and now he’s talking more, expressing himself more—even singing. We’ve seen very positive changes in less than a month.”
“It’s been a tough journey, but it’s been worth it. The first results we noticed were the improvements in our family’s quality of life due to all the progress he made. His sleep issues and recurrent infections are now under control. He’s also improved his attention span and his initiative to communicate and interact. We’re very happy with these results.”
“James is more connected, more alert. He’s progressing quickly in speech therapy. He started attending a regular school and is doing really well. He knows the entire ABC. He has improved a lot. I’m extremely happy and surprised by how fast it’s all happened."
Becoming a Nutriwhite patient has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m infinitely grateful to the entire team of professionals for the quality of their service and for how they’ve transformed my life.
I have no words to express the outstanding level, knowledge, and professionalism of the Nutriwhite Team! They changed my life, and I finally found out which foods weren’t good for me! I 100% recommend them!
The consultation was truly very good, with great attentiveness. I was satisfied because they make sure you understand the process and feel supported throughout it.
I’ve been part of NutriWhite for several years. They have supported me through various stages of my life, including my pregnancy and now postpartum. For me, having the guidance of each person who is part of NutriWhite has been essential.
I’m very happy with NutriWhite. I went through my pregnancy with them and I’m now going through my postpartum as well. The progress has been incredible, and the mental and physical improvement is beyond words. I recommend them with my eyes closed.
The interview with Mariana was truly comprehensive, and one of the things I find very special is the motivational support through chat—we get answers and information in a short amount of time. Congratulations! Thank you so much.
My skin allergies never came back, and managing my food sensitivities has been a complete success.
To me, Vero is simply unbeatable—she’s very approachable and answers all my doubts and questions. I’m very happy with her; she addresses every symptom with precise guidance and the right supplements, and her attitude keeps me motivated to continue.
I really liked the consultation because it focuses on addressing the health issue promptly and adapts to my preferences—for example, they take into account the foods I like to eat.
Carol explains things wonderfully; she is very professional and at the same time very friendly. She knows her field and speaks with expertise. I loved being her patient and I will continue to be for future consultations.
Very satisfied with the care from Dr. Julie Verzura and nutritionist Andrea. I love the dietary plan, the ease of getting the recommended vitamins and other supplements. Overall, super happy with NutriWhite.
Each day I feel better and see that I can keep learning to make recipes with foods that help me feel good.
The whole experience is unbeatable! They truly exceeded my expectations. I really appreciate the educational aspect of the consultation (explaining to the patient what gut health is about, etc.). All the logistics and organization before, during, and after the consultations have been incredible!
