Candida is a fungus that primarily lives in our intestines and plays an important role in digesting sugars through a fermentation process.
However, when there is intestinal dysbiosis, it begins to proliferate throughout the digestive tract, causing various symptoms.
Many times, we start a Candida diet and take medications, but we don’t see results as soon as we expect.
Why does this happen?
This fungus can easily migrate to other internal organs, and factors such as the moisture of the mucous membranes, temperature, pH imbalance, and a weakened immune system make it harder for the body to eliminate it effectively.
In addition, dysfunction of certain organs can delay recovery.
The main organs to pay attention to when dealing with Candidiasis are:
- Intestine
- Liver/gallbladder
- Stomach
If these organs are congested, the fungus can proliferate more rapidly.
As mentioned before, Candida normally lives in our intestines without causing symptoms. However, when problems like leaky gut occur or dysbiosis develops due to antibiotics, steroids, birth control pills, chemotherapy or radiation, stress, or poor diet, Candida begins to overgrow and ceases to be harmless.
Constipation also contributes to Candida growth, as it changes the pH of the colon to a more alkaline environment, allowing it to survive.
Regarding the liver, several studies have shown a direct connection between a congested liver/gallbladder and Candida Albicans overgrowth. This happens because, when bile acids are sufficient, Candida cannot adhere to the intestinal mucosa and therefore cannot proliferate.
Symptoms of poor digestion that can also lead to Candidiasis
- Bloating
- Heartburn
- Indigestion
Stomach acid is normally an environment where bacteria and yeast cannot survive. However, if stomach acid levels are low, bacteria and yeast can easily make their way into the intestines, where they multiply and cause problems.
If you have any of these symptoms, we invite you to try the home Candida test.
The NutriWhite Team emphasizes that, in order to begin treating Candida, we must first take a comprehensive look at how the digestive system is functioning overall and follow a nutrition plan tailored to you—one that removes toxic and harmful foods, replenishes essential nutrients, and helps you recover your health.
