Definition of Cancer

Cancer is a disease characterized by the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in any part of the body. These abnormal cells can invade and destroy nearby tissues and organs, and they can also spread to other parts of the body through the lymphatic or blood systems.

Cancer can affect people of all ages and can have different causes, such as:

  • Genetic factors
  • Exposure to carcinogenic substances
  • Chronic infections
  • Among others

The symptoms of cancer vary depending on the type and stage of the disease, but they may include:

  • Fatigue
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Changes in the skin
  • Persistent pain
  • Among others

Cancer treatment may include:

  • Surgery
  • Radiation therapy
  • Chemotherapy
  • Immunotherapy
  • Targeted therapies

The effectiveness of treatment depends on the type and stage of cancer, as well as the general health of the patient. Early detection and accurate diagnosis are crucial to improving survival rates and the prognosis for cancer patients.

Both the cause and treatment of cancer are related to diet: if it is inflammatory, it will be an additional stressor for its development, and if it is anti-inflammatory, it will be part of the treatment.
