More and more environmental burdens
These elements are filling us with toxins that we must remove from our bodies in order to stay healthy, active, and successfully fulfill our life’s mission.
Environmental Burdens We Should Remove
♦ Enemy Foods:
If we consume foods that cause us sensitivity because we cannot digest them—and they are highly processed, refined with preservatives, colorants, flavorings, without proper micronutrients, and genetically modified—this stimulates the immune system, causing inflammation in the intestine and resulting in a leaky gut. This condition allows harmful substances, pathogenic microorganisms, and other toxins to enter the body. The immune system attacks them to eliminate them but can also attack proteins in our body that resemble these harmful elements (Marcano 2011). Therefore, in most cases, the digestive system is the gateway to all inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, and negative foods are to blame.
♦ Chemical Agents:
From the soap we use to bathe, to makeup, fertilizers, and pesticides used on food, these all add up to a large number of chemical substances that come into contact with our bodies and must be removed. Think for a moment about everything that touches your surfaces (skin, hair, digestive system, respiratory system, etc.) and that can leave behind a substance your body has to deal with to detoxify—and often cannot: dust, car exhaust, food colorants, medications, cleaning product fluorides (Quintanar, n/d). The list is endless.

♦ Electromagnetic Waves:
Although it is difficult to directly prove the impact of various types of electromagnetic radiation from household and daily-use devices (microwaves, Wi-Fi, electronic and telecommunication equipment) on health, multiple ailments and diseases have been associated with them, both short- and long-term. Overexposure to these radiations loads our bodies with energies that alter our internal balance and can cause headaches, tingling, fatigue, sleep disturbances, concentration problems, anxiety, loss of libido and fertility, and controversially, have been linked to birth defects, cell mutations, tumors, and cancer (Alonso et al., 2011).
♦ Biological and Biochemical Agents:
Various microorganisms like viruses, parasites, bacteria, and fungi that we share the environment with can negatively affect us when an imbalance occurs, causing infections or producing harmful substances that cause intoxication. Even plants and fungi present in our homes or cities can release pollen and spores depending on the season (according to their life cycles), triggering allergic reactions in sensitive people; representing yet another burden (Nitiu and Mallo, 2011).
♦ Psychological Stress:
Stressful situations in our work or personal lives can put additional pressure on our health if not managed correctly. Our mind can greatly influence our body, and if we harbor negative thoughts, our nervous system triggers hormonal mechanisms that weaken the immune system and, in the long term, promote the development of chronic diseases (diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, etc.).
All these elements add and add to the burden on our body, until the moment comes when we simply collapse and illnesses appear.
So... what to do?
Here are some recommendations to help you remove burdens and recover your health:
- Prefer foods that are as natural as possible. Remove cereals and their derivatives, as well as cow’s dairy and avoid sugar and processed foods. Instead, replenish with plenty of vegetables, fruits, fresh meats, small fish, and root vegetables as a source of carbohydrates (if you have access to organic foods, even better!), always considering your food sensitivities. This way, you will recover your health.
- Increase your intake of fermented foods and sprouted legumes—they offer many benefits for improving your microbiota and maintaining your overall health.
- Avoid self-medication. If you can resolve a minor ailment naturally, do not take medication. If you have a major issue whose cause you don’t understand, consult your doctor. If you take supplements, read labels and avoid those containing enemy foods.
- Engage in regular physical activity. Find an activity you enjoy and incorporate it into your routine for at least 150 minutes per week at moderate intensity. This helps eliminate toxins through sweat and reduces stress.
- Drink enough water. Water aids in detoxification processes in the body, so it's essential to drink sufficient amounts. The quantity depends on food intake and physical activity, but the key is not to wait until you're thirsty—by then it's already too late.
- Reduce exposure to electromagnetic waves. Use “downtime,” such as during sleep, to turn off Wi-Fi and remove electronic devices (watches, mobile phones, TVs, radios, etc.) from the bedroom.
- Practice grounding. When possible, walk barefoot on grass, sand, or moist soil to help discharge negative energy and absorb positive charges.
- Incorporate meditation. Taking time to clear your thoughts, focus on your breath, and express gratitude helps keep your brain healthy (and thus your body), and enables you to better cope with adversity.
Don't let the burdens you face daily break you down. It’s in your hands to reduce that weight and live a healthy, happy life where you transform your health through immunonutrition.
